Train sent me a link to The Libertarian Vote from The Cato Institute, a libertarian think tank in DC. I’m a Libertarian. The authors include a quote from McClosky and Zaller’s The American Ethos: Public Attitudes toward Capitalism and Democracy (I think) which states my thoughts better than I could have explained. The quote is this:

The principle here is that every person is free to act as he pleases, so long as his exercise of freedom does not violate the equal rights of others.

Indeed. That sums it up very concisely. Well done.
