I have a GameCube. It’s sitting beneath the TV right now, on top of my roommate’s PS2. I don’t play it frequently. Meaning, almost never. When I bought it, I played a few games (Tony Hawk, Melee, Super Monkey Ball). And even after a while, I tried some others that I liked (Super Monkey Ball 2, Mario Kart) and some I didn’t (Tetris Worlds — they screwed up Tetris… somehow. It boggles the mind). But for the most part, I didn’t play it. Not even critically acclaimed games like Metroid: Prime or Pikman.
But now, with all the E3 commotion and talk of the Wii, they announced a GC title I might actually buy and play! Super Paper Mario looks like it would be as much fun as the original Mario games for the NES. I still remember getting the NES for Christmas. I remember seeing the feature film The Wizard with Christian Slater and Fred Savage too many times. I remember pre-ordering Super Mario Brothers 3. I remember my best friend, Scott Lester, somehow got the game a day early, and playing the game before I went to school in the morning at his house.
I think I want a Wii. I don’t care about graphics (too much). But the nostalgia of playing all of my favorite games as I did when I was a kid on the NES and SNES are very tempting. Metroid, Mario, Mega Man, Mario Kart, Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania, Contra, Star Fox, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy EVERYTHING, Dragon Quest. And so many more.
Then all I need is friends like I had back when I was in elementary school who would all meet up and take turns to play video games after school (now work). Who’s in?

hell I’m sold… when do we start
You realize right that paper mario is nothing like the classic mario games. It’s an RPG, meaning you talk to animals and equip shit and do turn based fighting. It’s still a good game, but terrible for an audience.
However, if you don’t play so much anymore and want to use video games as a social activity, it would seem that they’ve designed the Wii just for you. You know I’m in.
