So. Resolutions. I’ve thought of some. I wouldn’t say they are New Years resolutions, because the coming of a new year didn’t supr these ideas. These are in no particular order, and they all have a similar weight in importance to me. That said, I won’t trade doing one and not another. I am going to do all of them. Some will be easy, others I’ll struggle with and will take time to learn. Please comment and let me know your opinions, or even ask me questions about them; it will only make my conviction more honest.

  • Stop cursing (Lent).
  • To not … wear my heart upon my sleeve; For daws to peck at …
  • To bike and lift weight consistently after my triathlon.
  • Learn to let go. And be happy doing it.
  • Similarly, take life at face value and enjoy it in the present.
  • Go to church on Sunday as much as possible.
  • Stop judging people without knowing them.
  • Read the Old Testament, New Testament, and Quran.
  • Speak more slowly and thoughtfully.
  • Stop worrying. I figured this out a few years ago, but I’ve lost the ability.
  • Become a good cook.
  • Celebrate my friends more.
  • Receive the highest performance rating at work.
  • Become more sure of the career I want (too many choices)

Hey, I’m trying to stop cursing for lent, too! It’s been really….tough…

I find there to be something respectable about wearing your heart on your sleeve, its the getting pecked at that’s the problem.

I don’t know what your current divine believes are, but I don’t think going to church is the pinnacle of spirituality. I believe it to be more important to have a relationship with the God you believe in. if that means going to church so be it.

I comment on this because I myself have refrained from a similar post because I lack the desire to commit to my resolutions. Good job Kiefer, what happened to that “its bad to have goals” mentality?

I agree with your Rory completely that church is not the pinnacle of spirituality. I find that I am much more spiritual than I expected, and this was discovered well before I went to church regularly. But (a good) church does offer sermons which make me introspective and further committed to my beliefs, even if they change those beliefs. I become closer to God on my own time; I go to church to add perspective.

I feel the same as that.

I gave up emotions for lent, which fixed the heart on the sleeve problem, and also fixed the guilt of breaking the resolution.
