I am about to home from Destin Florida, where I was visiting Capizzi (Kara came too). It was a pretty sweet time, even though much of it was simply hanging out. Friday and Saturday were pretty much the best days ever: the weather was perfect and on Saturday, the waves were strong, thanks to the category 5 hurricane coming towards us. It ended up hitting land a couple hours west of the Emerald Coast near New Orleans, as I’m sure everyone knows. We had twenty-four hours of strong winds, torrential rains, and Monday, my flights four times. I finally caught a flight out of Panama City on Tuesday afternoon. I was supposed to arrive in DC on Monday night, but every airport within four hours was closed, including Dothan, Alabama, which closed twenty minutes before we arrived Monday afternoon.

Regardless, good times were had. One night we chilled with Capizzi’s AF boys, including Dan, Andrew and John (The Wedding Crashers), and Dave (The Iron Chef). Mainly though, during the bad weather, we chilled at our hosts, where we caught up on movies, reading, and modern / pre-fab homes.

Music was one topic that was not overlooked. Traveling around so much, we went though disc after disc. I’ve been trying to find some solid music recently, and nothing has been too long lasting. Here are some to that have caught my ear, at least for a couple days:

  • The Postal Service
  • The Shins
  • Colin Hay
  • Zero 7
  • Damien Rice
  • Death Cab for Cutie
  • Mos Def
  • Common
  • Air
  • Iron & Wine
  • Thievery Corporation
  • Nick Drake
  • St. Germain
  • Wilco

I really wish I could find a band which won’t bore me quickly, like Radiohead. I thought Coldplay’s new album X & Y might do the trick, but it pales in comparison to Parachutes or A Rush of Blood to the Head. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. My iPod is used daily for at least an hour, if not two, for my daily commute.

Pictures from my trip to Florida will be posted soon, along with those from Jim and Laura’s wedding.

On the playlist side, I must say Moby - Hotel turned out to be a sweet album, I just “acquired” it a couple days ago and have been playing “Where You End” nonstop. I agree the Killers album very money, including my favorite Jenny Was A Firend Of Mine.

I promise your next visit to Florida, or at least our next encounter, will be far better than hiding from Katrina.

Voda, on the dremel side…hehe…woops,…. I left it at the Pike House, however if I cant get McClurg to ship it to you, I’ll get you a new set. I know how you like dremels, and all the attachments, and the various activities that go along with those attachments.
