So, California is alright. So far, it’s been rough. I’m beat. I work at least twelve hour days (5a - 5p), usually later. I’ve been sick since Thursday night. I’m still in a hotel, but moving to an apartment tomorrow. I’m just spent. Training is rough, because I’m (a) sick (b) not getting enough sleep to train, work, eat, and unwind. I did find a cool place in SF this past weekend. I’m not sure I’ll go there again as it was way too cool for me. The time difference sucks. By the time I get out of work (like today at 6:30), it’s 9:30 where everyone I know is, and I still haven’t had dinner. Add dinner and training, it’s 11p or later, which sucks. Sunnyvale is suburbia, and thus, full of strip malls and neighborhoods. I’ve yet to find a chill, young, trendy bar to hang out at after all my stuff is done for the day.
The best part about being out here is the work. Somewhat challenging problems, but I’m learning so much about the other parts of the system, meeting new people, having people look to me for answers (and answering them), and being in a different working environment completely. Yeah, work so far is the best part; it is even better than the midwest or east coast spring-like weather that we have here now. Time for bed. In the morning I need to pack up all my stuff in the hotel room, move out to my car, check out, and be at work by 5a. Lovely.
