So, more this summer than in years previous, I have been reading and learning about different religions. I started to re-read Basic Christianity and have finished Siddartha. I also started learning about a newer religion, Bahai, which is somewhat of conglomeration of many religions in its beliefs. But more than any other religion thus far, Christianity speaks to me. Two days ago, I bought Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis. The book is a collection of radio shows that he produced in the 1940s about Christianity, and what it really means to be Christian. He has been very careful and meticulous in his writing to be sure that he is addressing issues that all Christians have in common (not just a denomination) and that his arguments are well thought out and cover all the bases. Who knows what religion (if any) I will be at the end of the summer — I have yet to read about Judaism or Muslim beliefs. But I do admit, from what I have read thus far, Christianity fits me more than anything else and the arguments hold true. I encourage everyone to read Mere Christianity if you have the chance, albiet Atheist, Agnostic, Jewish, Buddist, Taoist, or Christian.
This has been a terrific summer on so many counts. :-D
